This update contains one impactful change as well as our new FreedomPay credit card integration and a big chunk of the new OLO integration.

  1. IMPACTFUL CHANGE – SSN: This has to do with how Nigel will handle social security numbers going forward. Prior to this change, Nigel explicitly required a social security number while creating a new employee. There was validation in place to make sure that what was entered was a properly formatted SSN. As part of our evaluation process, we’ve been asked to remove this explicit social security number from Nigel. This field still exists but has been renamed to “Unique Employee Identifier” instead. Nigel will also no longer provide any validation that it’s a proper SSN. You can still enter a social security number into this field if that is the identifier used internally.
    • The form will no longer provide formatting validation, so you’ll need to be more careful that the number is entered correctly. One big sticking point is that for the Nigel to Rosnet integration to function properly, you’ll need to enter the SSN as numbers only, without dashes. Nigel used to take care of this automatically on the back end, but since we can’t rely on a valid SSN anymore, we can’t automatically strip out the dashes for the Rosnet integration.
  2. NEW FEATURE: This update also includes the ability to filter by destination on the KDS expo stations. This gives Nigel the capability to run multiple expo stations in a kitchen to better facilitate a dedicated to-go station. We’ll be providing new bump bar templates and instructions on how to take advantage of this new feature very soon.
